The Facebook lover of a mum battered and stabbed to death by her millionaire husband has spoken for the first time of his guilt over the tragedy.
Gareth Jenkins, 40, revealed how Lucy Landry was planning to start a new life with him once she had divorced her American husband Harold.
But Lucy was killed after Landry flew into a jealous fit of rage in February 2010. The 68-year-old attacked his British wife with a granite rolling pin at their £800,000 home near Worcester.
As Lucy, 38, ran screaming for help, Landry chased her into the garden where he stabbed her 23 times. He then walked calmly away as Lucy lay dying in a hedge with the knife still stuck in her side.
Landry, who admitted manslaughter but denied murder, was last month found guilty of murder and sentenced to life. He must serve at least 16 years in jail.
Gareth’s guilt over her death still haunts him. He and Lucy met up again on Facebook 22 years after they had been at school together in Pontypridd, South Wales.
